About a year ago I discovered meditation. I was thrilled that there was something else (something free) I could do. I researched everything there was to know about meditation. I would wake up super early and meditate before I would go to work. I would take breaks throughout the day to meditate. I meditated on my own and I used guided meditations. At first I could not focus. Like at all. I would think about anything and everything my brain decided to throw at me (hello what should I do at 3:00 on Saturday). I knew that it would take time for me to get better at it so I stuck with it for months. Looking back on it now I did not see a change in my anxiety levels. It did not lift the cloud for me. It did not give me the clarity I was hoping for and needed. It did not help me manage what was going on in my head. If meditation works for you, I am so happy for you. I do think its a great resource for many and don’t try to downplay it in any means. It can be a really awesome coping mechanism but it does not work for everyone. I think that is the most difficult part of this journey is that there is no clear laid out plan and there is no way to know what will work or what will not work on this journey. Keep trying new things.
Until next time!
