Life has really sucks lately. like really sucks. Covid-19 has upended everyone’s lives in a manner of days. The life we once knew is gone with no end in sight. You are scared for your friends. You are scared for your family. You are scared for yourself. Your brain doesn’t seem to have an off button. You are having trouble sleeping. This pandemic has completely pushed me over the edge. All the progress I had been making on my anxiety was completely thrown out the window and I was back to square one. I miss seeing my friends and I miss going to sit down to eat in restaurants. To be honest, I had to make some adjustments to my medication to start feeling better.
There are things that I did to feel a little better immediately. My go to is usually writing in my journal. When I was first introduced to journaling I thought it was pretty lame like I am an adult why would I write in a diary. I tried it one day and instantly felt better. I felt that a tiny load was lifted off my chest. I recommend sitting down and writing 2-3 pages and not judging what you write. I like to get up in the morning and free write and see what comes up for me. Another “tool” I like to use is to take a long hot shower. Yes I said shower! I love showers! Turn up the water as hot as you can stand it and breathe deeply. Imagine you are washing away the day and whatever worries you have. I also deal with a lot of muscle tension so the hot water relaxes my muscles. Let me know in the comments what works for you!
